Other EducaRed projects in Spain and Latin America

Fundación Telefónica Classrooms in hospitals.

This multi-national education project was created in 2005 with the goal of allowing children and teenagers who are hospitalised to continue their normal education, particularly through the use of ICT. There are currently 62 Fundación Telefónica Classrooms in hospitals in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Peru and Venezuela, 32 of which were created in 2009; these classrooms help 38,650 children every year. There are a range of ways of managing this project depending on the possibilities and/or the needs of the countries.

Second International Fundación Telefónica – OIS Award.

This award was created by Fundación Telefónica and the Organisation of Ibero-American States (OIS) to recognise organisations, companies and individuals in Latin America whose work has made a significant contribution to the development of ICT in education. In the second edition of these awards prizes were given to the Spanish Professor Manuel Castells and the "Fe y Alegría" (Faith and Joy) organisation in Peru.

Training together.

In 2009, representatives of the Interactive Generations Foundation, with the support of Fundación Telefónica and a group of its volunteers, implemented the "Training Together" project in more than 350 schools in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela; this is the second stage in the Interactive Generations programme in Latin America, which aims to develop knowledge, materials, resources and teacher experience in order to promote the use of ICT by pupils, their families and other teachers.

Participation in events in the educational community.

Finally, in order to promote the EducaRed programme, in 2009 Fundación Telefónica was actively involved in a range of events, conferences and congresses related to the educational community in the countries in which it is active. During these events, it presented its portal and its latest technological innovations, developments and research related to education, and it also organised training workshops.
