The Fundación Telefónica manages one of the most important corporate art funds in Europe

The Telefónica Group’s Artistic and Cultural Assets, managed and maintained by the Foundation, constitutes one of the most important corporate art funds in Europe, and has earned a deservedly high reputation both within Spain and internationally. This asset consists of five collections, comprised of works by prestigious authors from different artistic movements, which are outstanding for their quality as well as their relevance and importance: The Spanish Contemporary Art Collection, the Cubist Art Collection, the Contemporary Photography Collection, the Telos Collection and the Historical-Photographic Archive.

With the aim of exhibiting these works to the greatest number of people possible, the Fundación Telefónica oversees the important task of loaning this work to other cultural organisations in Spain and abroad. In 2009 work began on ensuring that these five collections are accessible via the Fundación Telefónica’s web page.

The Foundation's Cultural Spaces are major centres which are dedicated to the dissemination of art, technology and education

In recent years, the foundation’s four Cultural Spaces - the Espacio Fundación Telefónica in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Centro Fundación Telefónica in Lima, Peru, the Madrid Exhibition Halls in Spain and the Art Space, Espacio Calle Interior and Auditorium in Santiago, Chile - have consolidated their reputations as key centres in the artistic and creative milieu in Spain and Latin America, for students, artists and the general public who are interested in the avant-garde, debate and artistic expression related to art and the new technologies. To this end these centres are equipped with the latest technologies as featured in the world’s leading museums and cultural centres.

Through these spaces, in 2009 the Fundación Telefónica organised a number of temporary exhibitions, courses, debates, workshops and conferences. In total, nearly 875 cultural, artistic and educational events, all free of charge and of the highest quality, attended by over 158,000 people, 41% more than the previous year. Special mention should also been made of the 1.04 million internet users that visited its website.
