Communications Assistance for Spanish Aid Workers
Since 1996, Fundación Telefónica has been developing various projects to enhance communications with Spain for more than 28,000 missionaries and aid workers doing humanitarian work across the world, as well as support different international aid projects. The 2008 Christmas Campaign for Spanish aid workers enabled more than 9,000 of these professionals to communicate with their families for free during the Christmas holidays. Emergency Communication Units for these workers are also part of Telefónica’s effort.
Fundación Telefónica Helps Children and Adolescents at Risk - ANAR in Peru
Telefónica ANAR is a free telephone help line with national coverage donated by Fundación Telefónica. It has been available to minors in Peru since 1998 as an information and guidance service, offering comprehensive psychological, social and legal advice. This phone line has become the only method of direct communication for minors who feel lonely or distressed or for those who wish to report violence in the home, drug abuse, suicidal feelings, child pregnancy, abortion or anorexia and bulimia, among other social problems. The calls received, which totaled 14,024 in 2008, are answered by a team of professionals consisting of psychologists, social workers and lawyers, who inform, guide and help children to overcome situations that may endanger their physical and emotional well-being.
