Strategic Objectives of the Program
General Goal: To make Fundación Telefónica a leader in advanced research on the Information Society and the social impact of ICT, through the creation, debate and spread of knowledge.
Global strategy: Debate and Knowledge acts as a think tank, taking advantage of both its own resources of knowledge and the networks of experts and external institutions. The program wants to make a fundamental contribution to the progress of the Information Society through studies, publishing, seminars, debates and the on-line dissemination of knowledge.
Strategic Approach:
- To analyze the Information Society.
- To become a leader in the research of all areas related to technological innovation.
- To contribute to information and contents in Spanish regarding the impact of ICT on potentially interesting sectors.
- To be the leading entity in on-line dissemination and interactive exchange of knowledge through the program’s Information Society portal.
Lines of Strategy of the Debate and Knowledge program
There are three basic strategic lines describing the Debate and Knowledge program:
- Creation of Knowledge. Promotion and monitoring of different specific research projects, both of trends, data generation, and of current affairs related to ICT. It works to create a network of experts, including public specialists, providing added value to the ideas produced in the program.
- Generating Analysis and Debate. To pass on this knowledge and to extend training in areas related to ICT, Fundación Telefónica invests in the promotion of congresses, seminars, conferences and debate forums, both face-to-face and on-line, both international and national, on research topics, never losing focus of current trends.
- Spreading Knowledge. The Foundation also publishes numerous research studies from Spanish and foreign writers, as well as working notes and documents, both academic and professional in nature. They are all published in Colección Fundación Telefónica, created with Ariel Publishers (Planeta Group). Another key publication is the TELOS magazine, Notebooks of Communication and Innovation, a leading resource for the Information Society.
