Education & ICT Publications Spain
Fundación Telefónica is hosting an event devoted to education, during which the book "Alfabetización Digital y competencias informacionales" will be presented.
According to the book "Alfabetización Digital y competencias informacionales", in today’s society, the Information Society, we are starting to hear about literate and illiterate people again. And we hear about it in the field of digital culture, in the world enabled through the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). School and family have stood as the key agents of traditional literacy. From a formal standpoint, today, they still play a leading role, but their position is being increasingly challenged by other agents. Parents and professors are concerned and surprised about a process in which roles and the knowledge flow frequently change.
This situation poses a series of questions: What is digital literacy?; What are its desirable contents, agents, and objectives?; What should the role of the teacher be?; How are the teachers of the new literacy trained?; How do parents and families face the increasing relevance of ICT in the different fields of their children's development?; What demands does ICT place on schools?
This report, the result of the collaboration between Fundación Telefónica and Fundación Encuentro, tries to answer these questions and concerns.
