The Fundación Telefónica Art Hall presents an innovative work that combines technology and art in a very singular manner.
Dates: 25 March to 26 June, 2011
Venue: Fundación Telefónica Art Hall in Santiago de Chile
The author of the exhibition is Argentine physicist and media artist Mariano Sardón, who shows the phone call generation process in a witty and aesthetically attractive way. "Peristálticas", one of the installations comprising Sardón's body of work, will be installed in the interior aisle of the Hall and will provide a visual representation of how messages travel through telephone networks, through multicolour hoses connected to computers in Telefónica's central. Water will be driven through these tubes to the beat of the pulses generated by incoming and outgoing calls made at that same time by users.
Thus, when a call is started, a pump drives a pulse of water. What the spectator will see at the end is what happens in a telephone exchange in real time.
