Born in Madrid in 1963, Koro Castellano has a degree in journalism from San Pablo CEU University in Madrid. She began her professional career in 1982 at the weekly magazine Cambio 16. She later worked at Fotogramas magazine and formed part of the founding team of the weekly magazine El Globo. She then became head of interviews and major reports at El País Semanal. Subsequently, and for eight years, she was General Internet Manager at Unidad Editorial (composed of Elmundo.es, Expansion.com and Marca.com, among others), where she had previously held the posts of Managing Director of Elmundo.es and Business Development Manager.
She is currently the General Manager of Tuenti and President of MediosOn, the Spanish association of online media.
Castellano has also held the post of vice-president of the Online Publishers Association in Europe and was a member of the board of Forum for the Future, the annual conference on new technologies.

SOCIAL NETWORKS can be defined as those applications which allow people to use the internet to communicate with their friends, meet new people and share all kinds of projects and opinions online, thus generating authentic virtual communities. On top of facilitating communication between people, social networks allow cooperative work, the development of online collaborative initiatives, the pooling of knowledge and content, as well as communication between internet users with similar interests.
A COMMUNITY MANAGER is a person who energises a social network or virtual community which serves as a nexus between a company and society as a whole through an online environment. Among his/her tasks are those of promoting conversations and debates which generate information of interest, meeting the needs of users, offering relevant solutions and behaving in the virtual community in line with the ideals or values which define the company he/she belongs to, thus contributing to create and consolidate the online personality of this organisation.
