Conference Content

Blogs, which began as daily reports of people’s personal experiences, have evolved into one of the most popular services on the internet. Today, we can find blogs dealing with all kinds of subjects, from economics, science or new technologies, as well as personal blogs, through to others full of curiosities and other themes which are difficult to classify. Companies have also joined in the phenomenon, using these tools to get their messages across in a more human way and to complement their brand images. The phenomenon has also attracted journalists, politicians, experts and celebrities, who are also looking for a more direct form of communication.

The blogosphere is increasingly flooded with new journals, while the number of users using an RSS reader as one more medium for information is also growing, as they visit one or more blogs every day for entertainment or information, or to express their opinions in the form of comments. In the battle to become a credible, recognisable blog, picked up by Google, the winners are the ones that publish the best, most interesting contents, and those who update with a frequency that demonstrates their commitment to the publication.

All of this has led to the appearance of a new figure, the professional blogger, i.e. someone whose job is to write different blogs. This figure is a person who is identifiable by the reader, with a visible name and surname, who knows his or her community of readers and how to empathise with them. Creativity and an ability not only to find contents of interest, but also to shape them so they are easily "digestible" by the community, are their essential skills. And in a connected society, the blogging professional must also concern themselves with the virality of the contents, serving as a loudspeaker so that the messages reach the largest possible audience.
