About the project
Paula Pin Lage’s project Concerto fotosintético comprises research into bio-sensing devices and physiological interfaces in order to create new performative ways to stage technological interactions between natural forces and elements, human, animal and plant bodies. The artist intends, among other parameters, to translate the process of photosynthesis into sonic environments generated by granular synthesis. A custom-made system of spectrometers, microscopes as well as analytical devices for chlorophyll and melanin will be connected to a computer system run by solar energy. Multifold types of data will be interrelated to let ephemeral sonic “ecosystems” emerge.
