Sicán was the name of a place, probably an ancient temple or "huaca", or cluster of the latter, located in what is currently the Historical Sanctuary of Pomac, a cultural and ecological reserve situated north-east of the city of Chiclayo (capital of Lambayeque department). During colonial times Pomac, with its 30 large temples and little clearings in the extensive dry equatorial jungle of carob trees, was an area renowned for its ancient treasures.
The history of the project may be obtained from the website of the Sicán Museum in Lambayeque, which includes a wide-ranging gallery of imagenes, a panoramic view of Pomac forest and plenty of information on the exhibition.
