Grupo Telefónica
This is the corporate group that finances and encourages the implementation of Proniño in Latin America. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility policies, Proniño is perfectly aligned with Telefónica's commitment in Latin America to make an effective contribution to the economic development of the region and encourage social cohesion and the use of telecommunications in all markets in the region.
Fundación Telefónica
Fundación Telefónica is Grupo Telefónica's main tool for channelling its Social and Cultural Actions in the countries it operates in. Fundación Telefónica's strategy is implemented through various programs, including Proniño, the aim of which is to encourage the use of Information and Communications Technologies in educational processes, strengthening the information society of today and tomorrow. Also, Fundación Telefónica has become a network linking the various institutions involved in the Proniño program, and society in general, where it has a presence.
The main functions of Fundación Telefónica regarding Proniño are: the definition of Proniño's strategic plan, the management of regional processes and the setting up of institutional agreements to strengthen the program.
Fundación Telefónica - Local Offices
Fundación Telefónica is present in Latin America through subsidiaries in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. The work that these subsidiaries of Fundación Telefónica carry out for Proniño is focused on the selection of, monitoring and coordination with the NGOs that implement the program. They are also responsible for National Action Plans, the signing of agreements and partnerships on a local level, and the management of the Volunteer Program, which collaborates closely with Proniño.
The network of NGOs that work with Proniño comprises 93 prestigious local and international institutions that Fundación Telefónica works with directly through its local subsidiaries. These are responsible for "day to day" actions with children and families, academic monitoring and action reports. In terms of social and institutional relationships, they collaborate with Fundación Telefónica to manage partnerships with the public and private institutions involved in the program.
Public institutions
Proniño works closely with the public sector and state administrative bodies, such as Education Ministries, with which it selects schools that require intervention and Employment Ministries, to generate legal and institutional frameworks which contribute to the prevention and eradication of child labour. As a result of the important work carried out on raising awareness in the public sector, Latin America is beginning to see the setting up of National Councils for the Eradication and Prevention of Child Labour.
Local Governments
Proniño enters into partnerships with local authorities to coordinate and boost local services and resources.
Multilateral bodies
The main international bodies linked to childhood the program works with are the ILO (International Labour Organisation), UNESCO (United Nations for childhood), and the OEI (Organisation of Spanish and Latin American states for education, science and culture), etc.
Private institutions
There is a range of private bodies such as institutes, foundations, universities and educational centres, food, health and computer companies etc. that support the Proniño program through donations, sponsorship, and transferring resources, skills and know-how. In this way, the whole community gets a chance to contribute to the development and promotion of childhood.
Volunteers
The Volunteer program makes a valuable contribution to the sustainability of Proniño. The work of volunteers is one of the foundations the program is based on. Over recent years, Telefónica volunteers have given Proniño their time, efforts, dedication and talent, as well as various economic resources and contributions. It is worth emphasising the fact that this participation takes place in both Latin America and Spain.
