Telefónica has made a long term commitment with Proniño and has an approach that is aimed at sustainability:
1998: Proniño is founded
2004: Present in 10 countries. 10,240 children benefit from the program
2005: Begins to strengthen its interventions. 11,540 children benefit from the program
2006: Present in 13 countries. 25,539 children benefit from the program
2007: Present in 13 countries. 52,991 children benefit from the program
2008: 100,000 children benefit from the program
Medium and long term: Sustained expansion of the program
In 2008, Proniño set even more ambitious goals:
- 100,000 children returned to school.
- The training of those responsible for implementing schemes, and partners, for better program management.
- Consolidation of a management model in a network integrating all NGOs involved in the program.
- 65,000 children and teenagers helped as well as those offered comprehensive protection.
Medium and long term
In the medium and long term, the program has established objectives which are in line with those of the International Labour Organisation, to eradicate the worst forms of child labour before 2015, and all child labour before 2020
