EducaRed is a service made available by Fundación Telefónica to society meant to improve education by means of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). It was created in 1998 by Fundación Telefónica in collaboration with the Spanish educational community with two main objectives:
- Helping to improve the quality of education
- Promoting equal opportunities through the use of ICT in the teaching and learning processes
It is currently an international program, with projects all over Latin America, configured as a network of networks focused on innovation.
Functions and goals
- Facilitating the use of ICT in education
- Promoting good practices in the educational use of ICT
- Training teachers in the use of ICT
- Stimulating the creation of communities of students, families and teachers beyond the local scope
- Determining a meeting point for teachers of different countries and cultures
- Promoting the production and shared use of educational materials in the network
- Proposing a critical debate on ICT, Education and Society
- Projecting its action preferably in the Ibero-American environment

Collaborating institutions
The EducaRed program is driven by the Fundación Telefónica, Telefónica and most organisations of the educational world, including the main professional associations, parent associations and trade unions. EducaRed is an open program that aims to join all of the Spanish educational community - teachers, students, parents and schools - of primary, secondary and vocational education.
