Historical - technological collection

Historical-technological heritage

Telefónica has for several years carried out extensive recovery work of the parts and materials which, throughout history, have allowed providing telephony service, thereby creating the Historical technological heritage of Telefónica, which Fundación Telefónica conserves and manages.

Aware of the importance of this heritage, in recent years cutting-edge items have been added to the collection in order to give a global view of the evolution of communications. In addition, as part of the conservation program, restoration and cataloguing work has been carried out that have allowed showing to the public a selection of this heritage in the Museum of Telecommunications.

Fundación Telefónica has also recovered the Photographic and Film Archives of Telefónica, composed of over 12,000 items including photographs on paper, negatives, glass plates and film. This archive shows the implementation of telephony from 1924 to 1931 and documents the profound technological (and therefore historical) revolution it represented for the Spain of the time. A selection of these images can be seen in the exhibition "Transformations. 1920's Spain in the Photography Archives of Telefónica"
