The Comparative CyberLexicon is a compilation of English terminology peculiar to computer culture and technology and its equivalents in Spanish. Terminology here is used in its broadest sense, covering words, idioms, expressions, acronyms and abbreviations describing a variety of things, actions, concepts, activities, organizations, behaviours and experiences. Although it can be used as a quick reference guide, the list is not intended as an introduction to computer terms and as such, the alphabetically ordered entries are not accompanied by definitions. There are several online glossaries and dictionaries that fulfill that purpose (see Related Links).
The entries we have chosen are meant to serve only as a starting point: the principal aim of this lexicon is to catalog the richness and variety of Spanish usage, as it develops, and see how it relates or doesn't relate to meanings in the original language. We hope to engage online Spanish-speakers worldwide in an ongoing project to create a dynamic record of current cyber-Spanish usage. We welcome contributions so that the list will start reflecting the linguistic reality of Spanish-speaking computer cultures. Copyright: All rights reserved.
